Objective 2 Postcode Lookup
During 2004 the Scottish Executive began transferring area based regeneration funding from Social Inclusion Partnerships (SIPs) to Community Planning Partnerships (CPPs). Each CPP is responsible for the preparation of a Regeneration Outcome Agreement. This forms the basis for financial support to each area. Funding is primarily channeled through the Community Regeneration Fund which targets the 15% most deprived data zones as defined by the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation 2004.
In spatial terms, the 15% most deprived data zones differ from the SIP areas. Applications submitted to Priority 3 of the 2000-2006 Western Scotland Objective 2 Programme all local authority areas, with the exception of Glasgow, received funding based on areas within the 15% most deprived data zones. For Glasgow, applications submitted to Priority 3 were still targeted on the current SIP areas.
To reflect this policy change, the Postcode Lookup has now been split
For Glasgow*:
- Glasgow Postcode Lookup - This should be used to check Glasgow postcodes. Project sponsors should continue to check the SIP area.
For Non-Glasgow there is a 2 stage process as follows:
- Stage 1 Non-Glasgow Postcode Lookup - This should be used to check whether postcodes outwith Glasgow fall within Western Scotland Eligible or Transition areas. It is then necessary to check if each postcode falls within the Most Deprived Areas Postcode Lookup.
- Stage 2 Most Deprived Areas Lookup - Allows you to find out whether a particular postcode falls within the 15% most deprived data zones This Lookup should only be used by project sponsors outwith Glasgow after the Non-Glasgow Postcode Lookup has been used
*Some postcodes beginning with G may be contained within the Non-Glasgow Postcode Lookup.
